Terms of Service

By accessing or using TierChess, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, which are incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the Service.

If you are using TierChess on behalf of a household, school, or organization, you represent that you have the authority to accept these Terms for that group.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use TierChess with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

To access most lessons and courses, you must create an account with accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account.

Please notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for losses caused by someone using your account with or without your permission.

TierChess is offered through paid subscription plans — currently Beginner ($20/month), Pro ($30/month), and Max ($50/month). Each plan unlocks a different amount of opening courses and tactics content, as described at checkout.

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis and automatically renew until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method for each billing cycle. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Prices may change from time to time. If we adjust the price of your plan, we will give you reasonable advance notice, and any change will apply only to billing periods after the notice.

All payments are final and non-refundable. Because your subscription grants immediate access to digital learning content, we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, unused time, or change of mind. For full details, please review our Refund Policy. You can cancel anytime to prevent future charges.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the Service for your own non-commercial learning. All courses, puzzles, text, graphics, and software remain the property of TierChess and its licensors.

You agree not to:

• Share, resell, or redistribute course content or your account access.
• Copy, scrape, or reproduce lessons or puzzles for redistribution.
• Reverse engineer, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose.

The TierChess name, logo, and all learning materials are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we work hard to deliver high-quality chess instruction, we do not guarantee any particular rating improvement, tournament result, or learning outcome. Your progress depends on many factors within your own control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TierChess will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

You may stop using TierChess and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm other users or TierChess. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms occasionally. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
